Skip-count by Fives

Jump through numbers counting by fives like a math kangaroo!

What is Skip-counting by Fives?

Skip-counting is like taking big jumps with numbers instead of small steps!
When we count by fives, we say every fifth number: 5, 10, 15, 20, and so on. It's like counting all the fingers in a group of hands - each hand has 5 fingers!

How to Count by Fives

1️⃣ Start at 5 - That's one hand of fingers!

2️⃣ Add 5 each time - 5 + 5 = 10, 10 + 5 = 15, and so on

3️⃣ Say the numbers aloud - "5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30..."

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Use real objects: Count groups of 5 items (like 5 crayons, 5 toys) to make it tangible
  • Make it musical: Create a counting by fives song or chant to help memorization
  • Find fives in daily life: Point out nickels (5 cents), fingers on hands, or toes in socks to reinforce the concept
